ParticipantI have owned a SMEG UK 60MFX1 for 7 years and it’s been great. But now when I turn off the oven the fan (not the big fan assist at the back) but the one at the top of the oven still keeps blowing away and I am forced to turn the power off at the mains to shut the appliance down. Otherwise the oven is functioning normally.
Any idea – parts, install, cost?
Many thanks

KeymasterHi borgie,
It’s most probably the fan initiation stat that’s failed but I don’t have the info to hand on the part. Usually they’re not that expensive though. Getting to them at times, another story.
If you mail Dave on spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk he should be able to get you details on the stat.

Many thanksHow long are you leaving it after you turn off the oven ?, not sure if you know or not but it is meant to stay on after you turn off the oven for 5-10 minutes.

Gentlemen
Thank you for your input & comments this is most welcome. Things took a turn for the worst this evening. A pop, a flash, the smell of a burning component with a little smoke and a tripped mains fuse. Oh dear – no Tode in the hole tonight! Oven now dead as a Dodo, hob life for now.
Smeg want £100 just to have a look.
Is this terminal or worth getting the man from servicing in?
Many thanks

KeymasterHave you tried repairs@, the link down below to find an engineer as you may be able to shop around a little.
It won’t be terminal, but it could be costly but certainly not as much or anywhere near, the cost of a replacement.
