ParticipantThe RH oven on our Cannon 10750G works ok but the igniter won’t shut off. It lights the burner but then just carries on sparking. It’s been working fine til now. Oven temp seems ok but the clicking is driving us nuts!
Update: I disconnected the spade from the electrode and when I turned the gas on it still carried on clicking even though there was no sparking off the detached end. Does that mean it’s sparking somewhere else on the circuit?July 12, 2018 at 7:45 am #456774electrofix

the igniter should detect the flame and shut off which means its faulty

Where’s the fault though? In the electrode? The igniter lead or the actual spark generator which supplies all the igniters and sits under the hob?

very likely the spark generator
if it was the electrode it would not ignite nor would it if the lead was faulty

I’ve seen the spark generator. Plastic box with a bunch of spade connectors, under the hob? Anyone know where’s a good place to get a replacement and are they model-specific?

This is something that needs to be done by a gas safe engineer

you have to get the correct part for your appliance otherwise it may not function properly

Really? I’ve had the hob top off before. No need to touch the gas, not on this cooker anyway. Just a few screws and it lifts off. And there is the spark generator, which is only spade connectors. The gas supply isn’t involved.

Hi
Kaibart is quite correct in his recommendation of a Gas Safe engineer to carry out this repair on a gas or dual fuel appliance.
There is a link at the top of this forum which explains the reasons why. Click this link for the page.

ParticipantYog Hi, don’t suppose you would be able to identify and send photo of the spark gen could you? The link in the thread doesn’t seem to work. Was called out to a job where this exact fault was happening. The top oven was continually sparking and said spark was happening at the grill. Thanks Reuben

ModeratorThere are multiple versions of the 10750G we would need to know which version, some of the models have more than one available as well! If you are Gas Safe registered you will need to remove the generator and let us know the numbers on it.
If you are not Gas Safe consult their database for the one nearest to you.
Forum rules do not allow us to advise on DIY gas repairs.
