ParticipantHi Guys,
I have a 10 year old + Siemens single oven (hb24054gb). The other day it tripped the RCD and seems like its the oven. When the temp is set to 0’c then oven/grill switches on fine, however when you try to change the temp then it trips the fuse.
I am seeking advise if you think it’s the temp regulator that’s causing the issue here ?
Thanks
S

Will be an element fault by the look of it. Will need to be meggered to know for sure which one is causing it

Thanks for the help Andy.
Am I right in guessing there will be 2 elements in the oven, 1 x grill and 1 x oven ?

Correct! And likely as not the fan oven element (behind the removable the back wall lining) will be at fault.

As Martin said likely to be fan element but would have to be tested to be sure

Do you know how one would go about testing the element ? Is it just testing using an ohm meter ?

We have to assume those asking for help have a reasonable knowledge of electrics. Your safety is all important and asking such fundamental information does give cause for concern. My colleague referred to using a Megger (Earth insulation tester) as the correct way to diagnose faults with elements etc. And if that’s what you refer to an an “ohm meter” then the answer is yes a Megger is a Megohm meter.
Stay safe. 😀

No. It needs to be tested using an insulation tester ( megger )
