ParticipantHi anyone who’s on line.
I have an Electrolux built-in oven model ‘EOB 5630W’.
It is approx 2 years old and has started cutting out intermittently.
It happens after about 20 – 30 minutes, on oven or grill and is getting worse each time we use it.
The fan, oven lamp and the temp LED goes off, but the power light stays on.
After approx 15 minutes, everytrhing starts up again and the cycle continues. Can anyone advise what this could be (Thermal cut-out?) and how I fix it?
Thanks in anticipation,
JohnFebruary 8, 2006 at 12:45 pm #163745Dave_Conway

It’s nearly always the thermal cut out on the cooling fan housing that causes this, it’s this part here:

A forum search for the part number 8996619267611 will also help 🙂
Power off if attempting yourself please or check the repairs@ link below for an engineer..

Many thanks Dave, I had already stripped it down and found that part with a blackened band around the centre so assumed it might be that.
It’s awfully expensive for such a tiny part (£25) from the site you gave me!
I have actually ordered one from a local spares shop now and they quoted £22, so it seems they are very fair.I do appreciate your help though, thanks again.

Hi John,
I have the same problem with my oven. It is the same model and the same age as yours too! I would be grateful if you could let me know if yours is now working ok with the new part.
Many thanks,

As the postee requested all this info way back in February it is unlikely you will get a response. But I would think you would be barking up the right tree so to speak on the exact same symptoms. 😉
Go for it Lorraine 🙂

âž¡ This component is in numerous AEG/Electorolux Ovens.
It is not a thermal cutout just a substanddard Thermostat which operates the cooling fan for the external surfaces. If you cant feel a draught in front of the oven the fan is not operating, then the thermal cut out shuts down the oven. Penguin 45 assures me this is very rare!!!
Check the forum it happens a lot. LeaveAEG/Electrolux on the shelf poor quality control. The stat seems to last about 18 months.August 27, 2006 at 10:57 am #163752gegsy

Came across this thread while looking for a solution to my problem with an Electrolux EOB5630. Thanks to all who suplied what appears to be a solution.
However, I am concerned that all I would be doing is replacing one faulty part with another, only to find that the same problem will occur in another 12 months or so!
Can anyone reassure me that the suggested part is an improvement on the original?December 27, 2006 at 8:30 pm #163754Penguin45
ParticipantRe: OVEN SHUTTING DOWN INTERMITTENTLY
The original part number has been superceded several times, which usually implies that the part haas been changed in some way – alternate supply, redesign or improvement are all possible.
I have no idea if it has actually been improved or not – I would say that I have not had to return to any of the appliances which I have fitted replacements to, which must be a good sign. 😀

Thanks for that Penguin45. I guess time will tell. Still, at least if it does occur again i’ll know what it is straight away.

Hi,
I had the same problems as those earlier posters on my Electrolux EOB5630X oven and just thought I’d report that having ordered the part no. 8996619267611 from the spares area and having just fitted it the oven is all working normally again. Thanks for the advice previously posted its much appreciated.
