oven switch selector sparks and blow consumer unit fuse?

My oven is having intermittent problem of blowing the consumer unit fuse.
The oven switch selector sparks and makes a loud pop noise blowing the fuse when switch on.
Once I replaced the fuse, the oven works again for a while.
Is it possible the oven switch selector is faulty?
Can anyone help me?

Stating the obvious I would think my friend. To be more specific perhaps you could enlighten us with the make and the all important model number.

It’s possible of course.

Also very possible is what the connection that “pops” is switching may well be faulty.

I replaced the oven selector with a new one(arrived today) and the problem even gone worse!
Just blow the fuse every time I turn the oven on.
Disconnected both the oven and grill elements and it seems to power up ok.
When I connect the oven element back, it just blows the fuse all the time so I have to disconnect it.
When I connect the grill element back, it powers up ok.
Is it possible the oven element is faulty and causing to blow the fuse?

The most common failing on any oven is the element. Clearly from what you tell us that is the case here also but your obvious lack of electrical know how puts you and others in danger. Therefore I suggest you contact a local repair person to fix the oven for you and to carry out full safety checks on the appliance.

240 volts and high current drawing appliances are deadly. :zap:
