    Hi
The oven is a Smeg A1.1 range cooker, the elements work, and fan spins but still takes 20 minutes to get to temperature, have been told that the thermostat works well but the door needs a new door seal.
Am after maybe buying this cooker so just after advice that maybe the delay in reaching temp is because of the heat escaping via the door.
    Thanks for any advice

Depending what it’s set to, what mode it’s in and what oven you’re using that doesn’t sound unusual to be honest.

I wouldn’t buy if given the choice. Fan ovens should reach temperature with 5 – 7 minutes. You don’t want to buy a dog of an oven do you?

Martin, as I said it depends on the model, temp set, cavity and so on. There’s no way you can say that without knowing all the variables.

Even on the models with fast heat ups it’s often 5-10 mins to get up to 150-180C.

And the Smeg A1’s are pretty good actually.

it depends on what you want ,when you say to reach temp do you mean on fan before the red light goes off ? Depending on the condition of the door seal and the tension of the door springs and also the ambient room temperature the time can vary considerably,
If the door seal is attached at all 4 corners and has no tears I would be looking at the hinges with regards to heat loss
