ParticipantHi,
My oven (Kenwood ck404 double oven) wasn’t reaching temp above 150 degrees. The light would go off only at this temp.I changed the element and once the electrics were turned back on i turned the temp knob and POP…
The oven still heats more than it did so thats ok but the red light stays on and never goes off. Theres no click when i turn the knob..nothing! So i don’t know what the temp is or if its able to control the temp! From one problem to another..
Any advice would be appreciated.

if the light stays on so does the element.
sounds like the pop has welded the stat contacts
what I would like to know is why. you can look around the element connections to see if this oven has aluminium foil that may have touched the connections

We thought this yesterday. To Get the element out we needed to do if from the back…and therefore loosen the foil and insulation, we think it may have crossed the terminals… 🙁

And by the looks of it (using an oven thermometer) whatever I set the oven to (i set it to 100) it heats it up to its max of 250!

you need to source and replace the thermostat
the stat consists of the control behind the knob and a long tube leading to a sensor in the oven

Ok, so have the oven apart and all I did for now is swap Thermostats over as its a double oven and we don’t use the other one at all! Its all working great now, fingers crossed it keep the right temp. Thanks for the help.Much appreciated.
