My wife switched our oven off at the main wall switch while we were away for a few days, and now when we switch it on the oven will not work.

The oven is an AEG BS-5741-4-M (944 185 303). When we switch on at the wall the clock display doesn’t come on as normal. If rotating the mode select knob (left hand one) the two little square red lights come on above each of the knobs (so the unit is getting power) but nothing on the clock display, and the over will not heat up.

‘The internet’ seems to suggest pressing some combination of buttons together, but that doesn’t do anything for me (it seems for that to work you need a clock display, which I don’t have).

Any suggestions? Part needed? And how would I narrow down what part required?

    Many thanks!

Re: Oven will not turn on

in your case the clock is part of the oven control unit so it could be one of 2 parts or both

main control board lux list it at £101
clock unit found it listed as £73 on a random site

first thing I would do is switch it off. take covers off and carefully look for every multiplug connector. unplug it and plug it back

you can get bad connection on low voltage circuits. its a long shot but its free

Dave, many thanks for the quick reply. I’ll give that a try of unplugging and replugging the connectors and see if that helps.

    Best regards

Gave that a try, but no joy. Unplugged and replugged every connector, making sure they were firmly seated, but same outcome when reconnected.
    Looking bad for this one.
