ParticipantI know it’s early days but any early opinions or exposure to these new fridge freezers from Panasonic?
Looking to replace a leaky 6 y/o Hotpoint Iced Diamond and wifey likes the look of these machines (albeit quite expensive)
Doesn’t seem to be a lot of info around on the web and I can only find two places that stock them. John Lewis and Comet.
Thanks

KeymasterPanasonic won’t supply the machines to independent dealer, period.
Panasonic won’t supply us any machines to review, period.
Panasonic are then, needless to say, not exactly well loved round here. 😉
TBH I’d buy a Liebherr, much better if you ask me.

Thanks for your swift reply kwatt 😀
I never realised that about Panasonic. From lurking on these forums I’ve been leaning towards Liebherr but my wife wants to see them in the flesh so to speak and Comet have such a limited selection on display it’s been hard to convince her to go for a web based pic.
She saw the Panny in Comet and that was that. They are handsome machines. Personally, I think it’s too much without knowing how reliable they might be in time.
The other one I’m trying to steer her towards is this Siemens one:

The 5 year warranty looks attractive.May 21, 2009 at 7:07 pm #287575BadActor

Just ordered the Siemens one for £526 delivered from Appliance Deals.
Free delivery and 5 year warranty were too tempting 😀Thanks again.

Probably a good decision. Took delivery this morning of a NR-B30FG1. Nice looking piece of equipment. Unpacked it, washed it as advised, left it for four hours before turning on (as advised by supplier, John Lewis, but Manual says can use straightaway).
Set temperatures and waited four hours. It chugged (very) quietly away until it reached the required temperatures…and then sat there with temperature steadily rising back to room temperature.
Light’s on, so power’s OK. Looks like compressor, but machine definitely not fit for purpose at the moment. Thank goodness for our cheapo Iceland FF in the garage! 😥June 24, 2009 at 11:17 pm #287577kwatt
KeymasterJL should replace it without question, as should any retailer. 😉
I’m telling you, for refrigeration that isn’t an American style unit, buy a Liebherr. Even then, they have one of those now but it isn’t cheap, it is very, very good though.
I will concede that the Bosch Group stuff isn’t bad, certainly streets ahead of lots of the other tat out there.
I’m seriously considering putting the Liebherr range in the shop online as it seems that anything other than the low end models are hard to come by. We can get it to order but I’ve so far resisted it.
Interestingly though we do spares for Liebherr and we rarely get asked for any functional spare parts. It’s all shelves, handles and water filters for machines that are usually a number of years old, that tells a tale in itself. 😉

Thanks Kwatt. We’re changing it for a Miele which is pretty much the same thing as Liebherr, I think. (I’m told that Liebherr make Miele FFs)

Yep, Liebherr make the Miele machines but without the extra for the Miele name or the extra “Miele Tax” for any parts you might ever need. 😉
