Hi, our Panasonic NA-168VG3 started making groaning noises (during the wash/rinse cycle I think, not the spin) about 6 months ago when it was just out of the 5yr warranty period. We ran a service cycle and the noise went away.

However, it has started making the same low-pitched groaning noise again sometimes for up to a minute. Clearing out the filters and running the service cycle again hasn’t helped this time.

    Any ideas…?

Sounds like bearings which in turn, sounds like a new washing machine on those. Sorry.

If it is intermittent noise its not the bearings, but the recirculating pump does this when the jets get blocked.

Thanks both. Other Google searches led me to believe that it may be the bearings. Do you think it’s worth getting an engineer to have a look or just accept that it’s been brilliant for nearly 6 years and just get a new one…?

If I’m right and it’s the bearings on those Panasonic’s it a rear tank half and that has an RRP of £280. And it’s a total strip down to change it.

Does that make the decision for you? 😉
