    Hi,

Our washing machine has broken down today (yesterday now!!)

Originally it was displaying a H51 error code and knowledge of old 😉 issues, I checked the filter despite the wife already having drained it and cleared the filter before I got home, and I found 2 50pences, a penny and some ther other bits up the pipe. Put it back together. Ran a quick was and the error happened again. So this time I removed the hose from the drum to the filter and found a big piece of material on the outlet from the drum and removed that.

Feeling smug with myself – but it back together and chest puffed out with “man Fixed it” put on a quick wash and the H51 error code didn’t reappear- a H57 error code had replaced it :eeek: :eeek:

I can only find one reference to this code on an Australian site which states the motor is drawing too much current. It was sold with a 6 year registration warranty but we had to buy it quick when our last washing machine broke down (9 years Hotpoint and not a problem till it died and my wife hammers washing machines) and it was in between my Dad dying and his funeral so maybe I didn’t get a chance/get round to it 🙁

So any advice would be greatly received (but hopefully not needed as It was registered but then again maybe not)

    Thanks in advance

    Steve

Hi. So your machine comes up with H57 fault code What follows is a bit of a guess.. Yes your right this means there is a current problem but it is very abstract why this happens.Since this model is a belt drive with an inverter motor which I doubt itself is at fault it is possible it is the pcboard- pray that it isn`t! What I would do first despite sounding laughable is to make sure that the drum turns by hand as Panasonics ( although their hardly alone ) suffer from premature worn out/siezed drum bearings or stuff jamming the drum=motor won`t go round=current sensor malfunction=fault code, It could also be something jamming the outlet pump or the outlet pump is worn and jammed once again it draws current but does nothing. If your very lucky it can be a belt problem=size j6 1155mm length and if you think it is at fault/stretched but can`t get the correct belt use a j5 1158mm Hotpoint WMA series belt which will be 3mm longer which won`t matter and be very much cheaper. Failing this, and I`m no expert on this model, it may be the pcb but buy, if u have to, at your own gamble. Hopefully its under the warranty. let us all know the out come please. Best of luck

Hi and thanks for your response – I did see it earlier today but couldn’t reply. The bad news is that I mustn’t have registered the extende warranty however hats off to Panosonic as they are going to register the warranty and I have emailed them our receipt this evening so result. If I find out what the problem is (i.e. I am here when the engineer comes) I will post up here so it may help somebody else in the future.

I had seen what the prices were for a motor and a PCB and would have scrapped it (a £450 machine that would cost as much to fix if you include labour and no doubt call out fees!!)

    Cheers

    Steve
