Hi guys, my first post here so please be kind.

Our fridge developed a problem recently were the fridge is not getting cool enough, the freezer seems to be working fine. After searching the internet I found that the problem that I might have had was the the air inlet pipes into the fridge may have become blocked with ice as I was sure that my daughter had left the fridge open all day. I stumbled across a you tube video that showed this happening and they suggested switching off for 24-48 hours to let it defrost completely. I don’t this and hey presto the fridge started to work perfectly again. It worked perfectly for 3 weeks and I now have the same problem. Do anyone have any suggestions for me? I’ve searched lots but cannot get anymore info, also does anyone know where or how I could get some diagrams to show the working so I can find what to look for.
Thanks in advance for any help that is offered
    Rob

We hardly see these Rob, not a lot of them around and, I certainly don’t have access to any technical support or spares info.

You may well be right if there’s a damper between the sections. But what it is, where you’d get it… no clue.

Thank you. hopefully someone will read this and know something.
I’m going to unplug and let it defrost again and then see if it happens again.i did try taking of the back panel inside the freezer before but i could get it off, didn’t want to pull too hard and break something.
if i can get this off and maybe post some picture maybe someone will know something

    Re: Panasonic NR B54X1 problem

Hi guys, well I switched it off for 36 hours for it to defrost again and the fridge has been running perfectly again for just under 2 weeks. I’ve just come home and noticed that the fridge temp is at 7c so it looks like the problem is still there.
Does anyone have any suggestions of what it could be? I’m really reluctant to spend over £200 to get someone out if it could be something simple for me to replace.
Fingers crossed that someone can help
    Thanks

    Re: Panasonic NR B54X1 problem

Guys, please can someone offer some advice? I really cannot afford to get this repaired at the moment. I’ve taken the inside apart and found that it’s all frozen up inside and I’m guessing the inlet of cold air is blocked. The fan in the freezer side seems to be working now problem.
Could it be the defrost sensor? The fridge thermostat seems to be working as when unplugged it doesn’t register any temp, once plugged back in, it shows 8c.
I’ve tried adding a picture but it won’t let me upload.
Any suggestions would be really appreciated.

    Re: Panasonic NR B54X1 problem

Could be either a damper, a sensor or possibly something else.

From the looks of what I can find, it’s a twin evap type so it isn’t a diverter valve and the freezer gets the gas first as you’d normally expect so it could also possibly be a compressor issue as, if it were a sensor then you should have gotten an error code up. To be honest, not being on site looking it’s really hard to tell with that one.

There seems to be a valve diverting gas and that may be an issue also but, that’s not a DIY replacement as it’d need recharged if that were changed. It’s shown in the drawing below.

    Thank you for your reply.
I’ve ordered a defrost sensor, for the sake of £6 i thought it worth a try.

If it is one of the suggestions, why does it work for a couple of weeks?

    Re: Panasonic NR B54X1 problem

Im not familiar with the machine so I’ve not a lot of ideas other than maybe the valve sticking.
