ParticipantHi, I have a Panasonic Washing Machine Model no. NA-140ZS1 and I am receiving an Error U11 which is something to do with draining the water. I have checked all hoses and even sat next it during a short cycle wash with a bucket next to me and I’m not seeing an issue. Please advise. Thanks.
Hopefully I won’t need to cut my losses as it’s been pretty good until now.
Cheers,

ParticipantThanks for the reply electrofix – I can’t remember now – I’ll try it again on the quick wash – anything else I should check do when I do it.

Moderatornot at the moment
we need to know if it has a fault or just thinks it hasjust select a rinse only programme, Wait till its full then cancel the programme and select drain, then see if it drains in a reasonable time

ParticipantHi Electrofix, the draining speed seems okay.
I just ran a quick wash (empty) and everything seems fine until it gets to this screen, you can hear it trying to drain. Tried to upload an image but it’s complaining about a quota issue. The screen it appears to be having issues is with ‘spinning’ yet I see no issues with the spin as I can run a spin only program and that’s fine. After a few minutes after the ‘spinning’ screen you get Error U11 unable to drain, please check hose. No issues with the waste pipe etc. So if you run it dry no issues, but if you put it on a wash program and because its taken in water we get the above 🙁June 20, 2020 at 6:51 pm #469801electrofix
Moderatorwell from that it sounds like a pump issue. Have you taken the drin filter out and checked it? Also when you take the filter out if you look inside the housing with a torch there may be a white cross at the back. If yes this is the pump impellor, make sure nothing is stopping it. I have had 5p peices, hair clips, Elastic bands to name a few. All will stop it pumping out

ParticipantThanks Electrifix,
Just checked the filter area and it is clean and the propeller freely turns.
Though when i opened up the filter area some water did come out probably 2 maybe 3 cup fulls. If it is the pump how much am i looking at approx?

Moderatorwe are still not sure its a pump problem
you said it was trying to drain but if it was only trying but not succeeded then when you opened the filter it would have all flooded out. Instead you said you got 2 or 3 cup fulls. Which means it must be pumping out
am i correct ?

ParticipantYes correct, only 2/3 cup fulls came out. The rest must have went down the drain pipe as per usual and i heard as such. I’ve removed the top cover but can’t see much it appears the side panels don’t come apart either. There is however a silver panel at the back.

Moderatorwell in that case the problem may lay in the pressure switch. The pressure switch measures the water in the machine and reports this to the computer. if the air chamber at the bottom of the machine then even though the machine is empty the switch may be thinking its still full. it would mean finding this component and making sure its clear
only seen one of these to work on so i dont know exactly where it is or how to get at itDave

ParticipantTried to find a picture of the sump hose ( tank to pump filter hose ) for your model but cannot find one as there was a common issue on SOME Panasonics that had a 2 sump hose nozzles that were under the tank. Basically if one nozzle gets blocked-up it causes a partial vacuum stopping the water being pumped away SOMETIMES. Power off, back off and see if your model has 2 nozzles under the tank and if so that is where the problem will lie- very common. Not that easy to get at and from memory I think the machines have a plastic base to add to all the problems of access……in true lack of appliance industry forethought!!

ParticipantThanks guys, I haven’t had a chance to open it up again as i’ve lent out my tools to my brother. As soon as I get them back I’ll advise.
We have a temporary washing machine that the neighbour was throwing out (good timing) outside in the garden doing its thing for now… its very noisy thus why they’ve decided to get a new one. bearings i suspect! -
