Panasonic Washing machine Outer tub part corroded

I have a Panasonic washing machine NA-140VZ4WGB. It is just under 5 years old and a part has corroded off in the Outer Tub Cover. I have managed to push it back in but it will only be a matter of time until it drops off. I am also concerned that water may get into the joints.
Can anyone advise me what this part is for and whether they think it viable to repair the machine?
Also I thought the appliance came with a 5 year guarantee. I did register it and it is just under 5 years old but Panasonic’s website shows it as expired 3 years ago

am guessing it to stop things going into the gap between the tub and the drum

bad news is its not a seperate part, its part of the drum front which is over £100 worth of plastic plus fitting
