ParticipantI have a problem that I can see getting out of hand within a few months. 🙁
I have used Connect Mediator (DVD based) to look up most of my part numbers for many years and I find it satifies my needs in most cases. However, recently I have started to use the connections website instead.
My problem is that the website only divulges the product code (barcode) number. This is fine for ordering but not so clever when I want to fit a part that is on the van and I need to ensure that it is the correct one.
I still have the DVD installed and I am able to look up the information there. But how long for?
I am starting to create a spreadsheet of my van stock with the manufacturer’s part number against the bar code number to use as a look up table but this is going to take an age to do and is open to errors.
Any thoughts on how to deal with this situation in the future?

Other than that I could recommend an account with Masterpart 😉

I bumped into one of the Connect reps the over day, And asked him why its difficult to get the orig part number off the web site. He explained that its company policy now to hide the manufactures numbers, but will still show some on mediator. Its to make it harder for us to shop around for better prices with other suppiers. I have noticed even with Masterpart that good part numbers are not always found on Pt no search, But are listed on model search 🙁

Interseting that the back panel for a samsung RS21 fridge is……
just under £60.00 to a repair agent using the samsung number.
but to connections agents who use bar codes it’s £160.00
THATS £100.00 more
Same part without doubt. So it seems keeping the Manufacturers part number from some is very profitable for others. No use trying to put the samsung part number into the system as it reverts to bar code and the higher price
Have a nice day
