I have also posted this on the Legal Forum under “Part P Or Not To Part P”
It is interesting to note section “H” and the requirements for kitchen appliances.
In my previous life as a sparky it was GOOD PRACTICE to have socket outlets or switch fuses in easy access. My personal preference was to make sure that the appliance was switched from above a worktop, so as immediate isolation could be achieved in an emergency.
If section H were complied with, then the appliance would have to be moved before isolation could be achieved. Dangerous if the appliance is “live”due to a fault, or possible flooding. I would not expect a customer or myself to have to pull the machine out in these circumstances. Any competent person would obviously switch off at the consumer unit, but can the average householder be expected to think this way. Part P is obviously taking a step backwards. 👿
