ModeratorFor the past four years I have always been sent ISE job sheets as both pdf. and xls. document files.
As I don’t have full blown Acrobat I have always used the xls copy of the file.
Easy to edit using MS Office or even Open Office and then e-mail the copy back.I have now been informed that due to IT changes only pdf. files will be sent out as job sheets.
So, if you already use the pdf. file how/what do you use to edit it?
I had a quick look a Foxit but it doesn’t appear to do what I want.
At the moment I am going to have to print out the pdf. doc and then fill it in and post it back.
Unless you know better. 😉

I just had the same discussion with Amica.
Unless you shell out around £500 on Adobe proffessional then you cannot edit a .PDF format.
Why can’t they be sent simply as a .doc file?

But I know you can, its just a lot of faffing about when normal xls. works fine.

AHA! thanks for the link Jim. But as you say a lot of faffing.

Actually not as bad as it looks, have had a play around with those programmes but the end results are not that impressive……YET. 😉

Yes, there have been changes and it is not possible to automatically generate an MS .DOC or .DOCX file I’m afraid.
You can do CSV, PDF and various other formats but almost all are more of a faff than PDF is. Plus, it’s a bit of a pain to get formatting correct, if possible.
Mark, I’ve no idea why you’ve got a delay but I’ll check when and if I can get in tomorrow given that Scotland is apparently closed this week. :rolls:
I just got back, ten hours late but, at least I got back…

So what are our options.
The short time I have spent fiddling around with the various free pdf editor/converters are not producing great results yet. 😥
Printing the job sheet, filling it in by hand and then posting it back is a return to the dark ages. 😀
One other alternative is to put all the details into an e-mail for you to complete the pdf’s at your end.

I will look at it Jim but I don’t know what the options are as yet.
Once my pet geek gets back into work that is as, presently, we’re down staff due to the weather which is a more pressing problem and, creating more pressing problems, at the moment. 😉

One other, equally inelegant option would be to print out the original pdf. enter the details by hand then scan/save and then return this as a small jpg.

KeymasterNot an option as it increases the admin time here, it has to be a fully automatic process or we’d take forever to do them.
Remember, we’re doing a whole heap more than you do. 😉

I’ll leave it your capable hands, I’m sure you have nothing else to be sorting out ATM. 😉 😆
Meanwhile I will keep experimenting with the stuff I have, I’m sure I can make it prettier than the one I sent back to David on Monday with a bit of effort. 8)

KeymasterTBH Mark, I forgot.
I have asked now though and David doesn’t know anything that’s outstanding for anyone. 😕
Any chance you can mail David or Nicola with some details and they’ll do it PDQ for you?
Dunno why you haven’t got them though, we can’t understand that.
