ParticipantBeen to a machine that the customer said was leaking soap suds out the drawer. I tested the machine and found nothing wrong. She said she was using Persil tablets so I advised her to put them in the drum and see if that helped. She phoned back saying it was doing the same so I checked everything again and found nothing wrong. I then got her to put a wash on with 1 persil tablet in the drum while I sat and watched the machine. Within 20 mins the entire drum was full of suds and when it came to the end of the wash cylcle and emptied the suds remained full to the top of the door, so obviously when it started filling the suds poured out the drawer.
Is this just a bad batch of Persil tablets? or does someone know better?

The machine in question is an Ise5 which is only 4 weeks old so I doubt very much if it needs a service wash.
She is going to change her powder and see if that helps. I can`t think of anything else bar a bad batch of tablets.
The last time I saw anything like this was when a customer used twintub powder in an automatic. π―

This is a common problem in my very soft water area with ISE 5 machines, even had one uplifted and exchanged. The machine did not leak on test and the replacement machine leaked at once, this confirmed our suspicions of oversoaping.
I always advise Ariel and only one tablet, even tell them to break the tablet in half if doing a small load.
I have voiced my opinions on the lack of rigidity in the sump hose but gradually reducing the soap dosage does the trick.
Persil Non Bio does seem to froth up more than others, adding Vanish or Oxysept also seems to aggravate the problem.
I had one customer who was using Bold 2 in 1, Vanish and fabric conditioner at the same time. :rolls:
Does she use rinse aid, it can help to do so.
Jim.
PS. Moved from General Trade to closed ISE forum π

Ditto Jim’s comment plus :-
Is this on all washes or just the regular cottons wash? Have you double checked the moulding to the tub vent is clear?

Now that I`ve found my post π
Jim, How does the rigidity of the sump hose affect it?
Martin, Yes she says its happening on all washes.
She did have an unopened box of Ariel tablets as well so she was going to try them. I will call her in the morning regarding the dosage as Jim suggests.
Never had this with any of the other ISEs I`ve installed.

This was sometimes a problem on older Hotpoint and Hoover machines, the sump hose weakened and collapsed in on itself during drain. I do feel that the squareish sump hose which is quite thin could suffer in the same way. I have had at least 5 or 6 possibly more but the water is very soft round here, a reduction in the detergent has cleared the problem in every case.

Yep, we’ve had a few over-soaping, most of the time it’s cleared by simply advising the customer as required in the circumstance. The odd few we’ve asked that the eco-ball be removed and that lessens it as well if the customer doesn’t/refuses to listen and we’ve had a couple of them as well. :rolls:
It really depends on the type of wash, detergent, cloth and how the customer doses so there’s a shedload of variables in it and trying to explain that to punters is just an unbridled joy.
Usually though I lose patience and simply say, “well the machine can’t make soap suds on it’s own and it works fine without detergent, so… ” π

I have an interesting variant on this theme.
Six month old 5 machine, with a frothing problem. The machine actually overflows with froth but only on a towels wash. Customer is using Green and Purple Ariel and says she’s only loading 100ml. It had it’s monthly service wash 2 washes ago.
What is particularly galling is that this is one of the few customers who has taken on board all the advice about loads, loading, service washes etc.
Any thoughts welcome,
Chris.

The only way to cure it is to reduce the detergent even further, my biggest problem customer to date has agreed that the wash results are still perfect if she uses even two thirds of a tablet with a full load, even easier to reduce the amounts with powder. would also agree that towels do seem to be the main culprits.
I just told her to think how much money she was saving on detergent. π

PS. Anyone want to answer the ISE/Beko question in the public forums. π

I nearly answered it, but he’s having a rant about Vestel as well. Funny that, seeing as we have expanded out business relationship significantly with them just recently.
But maybe I’m being cynical…….?
