Phoenix CH001

I have an old Phoenix bottle cooler that is only cooling down to about 18 degrees.

I can hear the compressor working all the time so I assume the only problem can be either a worn compressor or lack of gas. Can anyone please advise on what steps I can take to isolate what is wrong and how to repair it?

I understand that the only components are the compressor and thermostat and they are apparently generic versions, but would welcome any confirmation of that.

if its running all the time you cannot do it yourself without specialized equipment to measure the relative pressures in the gas lines
