Our entire kitchen is equipped with H/point white goods and until our last replacement of thie d/washer above we have had no problems.

Since we took delivery of the FDW80 we have had nothing but problems, expecially with error codes. Within weeks of receiving it we were constantly getting AL2 show up and everything had baked food on it. After about 3 months we had an AL12 appear and were told to call an engineer who said that was nothing wrong with it and that it was just blocked. He sold us some special powder in sachets to put in it every month.

We constantly have AL2 come up even if there is a few grains of rice in the filter basket.

Today we have AL12 again and as it is outside of the warranty I am loathed to call an engineer to be sold some more powder.

I have managed to run it again and it worked but now AL2 is showing again. I can dela with AL2 but what it AL12 supposed to mean has occured?

    Thanks for your help

Sadly what you have is an Indesit appliance, fast becoming a byword for poor quality, unreliable appliances. Not sure about AL12, that doesn’t appear on the error codes list we currently have. However A12 on recent Indesit machines suggests a heater related fault, could be heater, control module, poor circulation, pressure switch etc.

A local engineer may be your best option, try the link below. Please remove the mains plug if you intend to have a look inside.

Nothing special about the powder (except the price they charge for it?)

If you really must use a descaler in a dishwasher then this product is 10 times cheaper and available in the larger supermarkets: –

PLEASE NOTE: This doesn’t detract at all from my colleagues (Iadom) earlier post as to the problems with your dishwasher. But it is amazing to realise that Hotpoint engineers are flogging this product as a ‘possible’ solution to certain problems with their machines? :rolls:
