Ok credit to you then – Only trying to help others who dont have access to the trade section, I know there is a strong commercial aspect to this site which may have a direct conflict.

I help out in a lot of forums, I have a bit of knowledge on car diagnostics /car mechanics, satelittes and a few other bits – I always share my knowledge and help newbies out in the relevant forums I belong to, I happily give out all the diagnostic procedures and tips and tricks that only the trade would know about, anything useful – We ask the mod to make it into a sticky to help others, we never keep a monopoly on information or punt for business on the net as such. Not saying this about anybody here but I get the feeling that trade secrets, procedures are kept well guarded on this site instead of being shared, no copyright issues as pointed out if altered. I remember when my fridge broke down and I tried to get some pointers here and was led to believe that you need special equipment etc, in the end I fixed the PCB myself and no equipment was needed.

Rant over lol Anyway off to fit my bushes, hopefully should do the trick or I will come back and eat my humble and ask for help lol

TBH your supposition in the post I deleted was wrong, you stated that you only managed to find the problem after running the last error procedure when in fact you were advised at the very start of the thread to CHECK THE BRUSHES . :rolls:

Subsequent posts also told you where the fault lay.

We gave you good advice, the diagnostics made no difference whatsoever, the fault was exactly where we said it was and any member of the public who actually bothered to follow our advice would have been able to sort out the problem without any recourse to the diagnostics.

Repairing domestic appliances is my sole income source, is yours car diagnostics etc?

I do not profit by as much as a single penny for my labours on this site. 😛

There is a copyright issue BTW, the exact text you posted is my intellectual property, not ROCKS from St Lucia or yours either.

Iadom and others who have assisted – People like you make the internet forums what they are today.

I meant copyright in the original instructions and they can be re-written again.

Sorry didnt mean to offend chap I was just pointing out about logical processes like:
When a car comes in with a problem, the first thing to do is to scan it for codes with a machine similiar to the procedure mentioned before, its always the first place to start if you dont know what the fault is, just trying to make this section helpful to others mate. Why cant we have a sticky in here about the procedure?

What if I wrote of the actions I carried out in my own words, can that be made into a sticky, you have to admit that people want to keep this info within the circles and to an extent I can understand but not everyone will have a go to repair things themselves and theres enough work out there..BTW – Diagnostics is part of my business and forms half of my income, I take from the internet but I like to give in return also.

    Anyway sorry if I offended.

    No offence taken. 8)

However, when I take my car into the garage the first thing I do is tell them what the problem is, (thankfully that doesn’t happen much as I am on my 8th Volvo 😀 ).

If I were to say to them “its pulling to the left a bit when I brake” they would not run it through a diagnostics routine, they would stick it on the ramp and visually check the brakes, tyres, suspension, steering and running gear.

When I go to a customers house and they say ” its not going round like it should, not spinning, no motor action, making funny noises etc” the first thing I do after spinning the drum by hand is check the motor brushes.

That was the exact advice I gave you in my very first post in this thread BTW. 😉

I would guess that I use the diagnostics for less than 20{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of the calls I do.

There is a tendency amongst people who have extensive knowledge of electronics/computers and other advanced technology to always think the problem is a difficult, hard to fathom problem that must be ‘diagnosed’ with lots of in depth interrogation of the electronics etc. for some reason they find it hard to accept that the fault is in 75{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of the cases quite mundane and straightforward.

In the trade we see countless disasters caused by people with a little too much knowledge of the wrong kind fitting timers and expensive PCB’s when the actual fault was a loose wire, brushes, pressure hose blockage or similar.

The diagnostic routine you have obtained is only the ‘last error code’ it will not find the fault if the customer has tried the machine again in many cases. In fact I would guess that if you ran the routine on 10 machines, 7 out of 10 would come up with ‘Start button pressed with door open’ error message.
