My washing machine has gone. Initially it looked like a draining issue where it wouldn’t spin and drain. The clean pump light was on. However, now even when I move the dial to start a new cycle the drum won’t even start spinning.

After speaking to Domestic and General, it seems a lot of money to pay £120 just for them to come and fix it. I may as well buy a new washing machine even if it will be the cheapest.

I want to have a go at fixing this myself and I am asking for help. Has anyone ever worked with this sort of machine? So far I have opened the top of the machine. Unfortunately I haven’t found a youtube video with this specific machine, which is why I have arrived here.

If the wash cycle has totally stopped spinning and won’t budge, what could be the diagnosis?

I do think initially it was a pump issue, but now I wonder if the motor has also broken.

    First things first…

    Have you checked the filter?

Yep. I checked the filter on Wed and it was clear. In the past I have cleared the filter, however, it didn’t turn out to be the problem this time.

Testing the pump would be the next thing to ensure it’s okay.

Also worth checking the motor carbon brushes.
