I had a fridge/ freezer delivered this morning, all was ok until the delivery men went to plug it in and found that it had a european plug (2 prongs). They suggested that I could cut this off and attach a usual plug. They said they could not do this for me though. I refused and after a while it was agreed that another would be delivered tomorrow. How would it stand from the guarantee/ warrenty point of view? Would the appliance still be covered?

    Re: PLUG DILEMMA

We find a few with the plug changed anyway,if is fed up through a small hole in a worktop etc it’s a case of cutting of the moulded and fitting a new one.
Would it affect the warranty, doubt it as long as it doesn’t go faulty or is not wired correctly etc or the manufacture would be charging for the call.
There are british plug to euro socket extensions available to buy.
Strange that we changed to the square pin plug in the UK circa 1970 ish which was to comply with the continent, now we are the only ones using it ! :rolls:

    Thanks for that.
Sounds like the usual ‘British’ thing – trying to please everyone else, then being left high and dry.

Must stop being so synical. 😉

at least we british dont have to rely on all our appliances being double insulated. can you imagine a fault on the european production line of something fitted with a europin plug and having live metal parts to touch… press would have a field day!
