ParticipantHi everyone, would really appreciate some help.Bought a Bosch WAE 24464 Exxcell washer which arrived Tuesday. Did a wash later same day and noticed a leak towards the end of cycle and some towels came out with dark stains. People who connected it came back next day and said connection fine and before he left did a quick wash and said leak coming from base of machine. Today tried another wash and no leak at all! I have read THE SAME EXACT situation about the leaking today about another Bosch washer on another board and how theirs ahs now stopped too. The thing is I’ve booked an appointment with an engineer and wanted to find if it was really a fault from machine…..was pretty certain it had to be coz of the stains on towels but I’ve now read here that it may not be machine’s fault, plus the fact that it had leaked twice before…..but now that’s stopped and don’t really know what to do. Could it be something related to bosch washers afterall due to the other similar situation? Can’t afford to be charged for call out fee as I’ved just forked out for a new machine,do I cancel appointment, but then what if it re-occurs soon again…what do you guys think?
Thanks in advance and sorry if a bit long.September 2, 2006 at 8:32 am #187248kwatt

Hi,
There’s virtually no reason that a machine could cause any staining, especially new. There’s no oil or anything of that nature in them that could cause it. If you have a read through the “Articles and Help” section there’s a load of info in there about different stains and what causes them. At first guess I’d be going for haircare products being transferred to the towelling as it’s classic symptoms of that.
The leak is another thing entirely. It may well be a fault.
Hope that helps.

Hi, thanks for replying and so quickly too. Yes I did read somewhere else under the site that dark stains could be other than the machine and thats when I began to be unsure. However with regards to the leaking, now that it’s stopped for the moment, will an engineer still be able to diagnose a fault without the leaking occuring at the point of inspection? It’s a silly comparism, but kind of like one visiting a doctor after pains that one was having have stopped would the doctor still be able to find out the cause?
Guess my main concern is since leaking’s stopped the possibility of finding the fault and not be charged for it……my theory is that a new machine won’t leak twice when tested for no reason and that despite it having stopped there might still be a fault…….but again I’m definitely not experienced in these affairs…..thus the ask for help. And as mentioned before I found another article about another brand new Bosch leaking and stopping in the same manner which was bought a few days ago. Should I cancel the call out till it leaks again or go ahead…..the retailer of the machine is waiting for the engineer’s inspection as well before taking any action so if I cancel and fault re-occurs, will it be harder to get a reaction from them coz I’d cancelled this appointment? Gosh here I was thinking I wanted a HASSLE free life by buying a Bosch and look what’s happening……..and this is my very first washing machine purchase ever too…….(smiling sadly).September 2, 2006 at 2:37 pm #187250gegsy

Hi WM
Just to try and eliminate certain “known suspects” that may cause your leaking.
1/ High water pressure to appliance, where the conditioner compartment mainly cannot cope with the amount of water delivered.
2/ Hair/fibre debris and slight scum build up between the contact of door seal and door bowl glass.
3/ The use of existing and sometimes perished old fill hose/s or not sufficiently tightened new fill hoses.HTH

i have a few calls to leaking washers just after delivery that just clear up on their own, i put it down to water spilt during the connection.
the other main possibility i would suspect is high water pressure

Dos??
no ones just drys on its own and the other just requires the turning down off the water pressure to the machine usually taps are behind the machine or in a cupboard next to it.
that ok for you mwnwoer
