ParticipantI have a poorly Smeg DWI612C. It hasn’t been washing on the top shelf very well for a while (months). Recently it got worse (weeks). I did all the usual – checked for blockages in the rotor arm – ran some DW cleaner through etc. This helped a bit, but not much.
Now it’s given up completely. It seems to fill & drain, by the noises it makes, but there’s no evidence in the drum. After a minute or two it stops and opening the door shows the first three lights flashing and the last (5th) one constant.
Turn it off and on again and I get the 4th & 5th flashing. Press the programme select button and I can select a programme and we start again with the fill, stop and flash.
Reading the advice regarding the flashing lights gives me some guidance. I would try changing the suppressors (if they aren’t too expensive), but could it be linked to the poor cleaning? A pump or valve?
Any help would be appreciated.

It thinks it’s got a flowmeter – it hasn’t. Carry out the following procedure and it should work again.
Switch on and press the programme button 4 times, within 3 seconds. The 1st and 5th lamps should light…….. You may have to do this several times before it works! Assuming that it does, press programme button once more; led 1 should go out, leaving only led 5 lit. Switch off, count to 10, switch on and run the rinse programme only.

Thanks Penguin.
I was so happy. After stabbing the button several times I got into the routine that you described and that seemed to do the trick – from the outside.
The dishwasher went through all of the motions – a proper cycle in terms of duration and all the right noises too. But when I opened the door – nothing had happened. I don’t think any water got in or out during the cycle. I did rinse and a full programme.
Now the two lights on the right (4 & 5) are constant until I press a button.
The soap dispenser didn’t open – I don’t know if that’s significant, but there you go.
Thanks again for the quick reply.
