I’ve got AEG L16830 washer-dryer, which has broken recently. It looks like something wrong with the electronic unit (I’ve no idea how it could be called), at least all indicators are dead and the only thing the machine does is trying to drain inexistent water, when I turn it on on any programme. I booked a repair man from an authorised servicing company but he will come only next week and the call itself will cost about 80 quid. I am trying to understand if I’d be better off to buy a new machine rather than getting this one repaired. Does anyone know how much it may cost to replace the electronic unit (I heard that it is the most expensive part of a washing machine) and whether it is possible to repair it rather than replacing?

From what you tell us it could indeed mean a new main circuit board replacement. The cost of the part in excess of £120 I believe, not certain though, but close. 🙁

If this machine has a sealed base it could have water in it which has activated a float / switch. This will run the pump.

Very true, but then it would at least throw up an error code (E30 I think?) and the display and lights would show. 😉

So I guess if it’s in excess of 120 pound it’ll cost me around 300 poor more with work and a call fee. Probably a new washing machine is a better option.
