    I’ve edited Martin’s post here:

    http://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/modules.p … 8195#98195

As it pointed to EMW’s website who have already been bollocked for posting inthe public forums and selling at trade prices 😉

Shame – Tony’s one of the good guys. Trouble is they’re all scientists, the public seems to be just another sale. Can’t you persuade him to go “3rd party” through the Shop@ facility?

    Hmmmm?

Worthy of a rethink regarding pointing the public to EMW, QER and Re’lectronics then? Personally since the fracas we had over EMW a while back, I’m now all for those 3 companies making their own decisions as to whether they deal with Joe Public or not? As far as I was aware both EMW and QER have a healthy trade in that regard to no detriment of us in the trade.

Incidentally, the post that was edited doesn’t read quite right now, does it?

Martin – No-one points the public toward EMW or QER though 😕

Chris – I tried a “deal” with Tony on refurb parts for the shop@, it was fruitless to be honest mainly down to the exchange problem and surcharges.

I would also worry as to EMW honouring its guarantee pledge. Last week we sent back a board repaired 3 weeks ago, when used from our van stock it did not work. The engineer found 1 joint completely solderless, no probs as we carry 3 on each van he used another.

We returned the unsoldered one back to EMW therefore expecting a replacement. What we got was a scrawled hand written note on a scrap of paper informing us the solder had been “blown” off by a short circuit, it had taken out the chip and was our fault for fitting to a defective appliance.

Draw your own conclusions, one of the good guys, I think not. I will not sell his product to a chargeable call, I do use referbs for contract work but will use the guy in Stoke from now on.

OK, accepting there is apparent amount of animosity over the likes of EMW, I’d best not advise Joe Public in future to go to them for fear of upsetting. 😉

Will the Shop@ be selling all these Modules and Timer/modules as new units from the various manufacturers in the near future? There will obviously be a demand, but along with it a lot of flack from the public if something goes wrong?

On the other hand, accepting that when Joe Public asks the question about his blown up WMA module and he wants it repaired. Wouldn’t it be better in all reason and honesty to point him to the likes of EMW and let them take the flack???? Cos for bloody darn sure its a job lost to the indies anyway!!!! 😕

Can I ask for a ruling here please? 😀

Gotta say I’m surprised by your comments, Kevin. When I was younger and even more stupid, EMW helped me stay afloat during an awkward cash flow period (it was very awkward – thank you Headingley Estates – no-one gets 120 days credit.) by continuing to supply me. I have had nothing but support, overall.

For Martin’s comments, perhaps we Mods should do what we always do – direct spares requests to spares@ or repairs@ as appropriate.

There was a post in the Public forums over the weekend (Fridges?) where the guy got his electronics repaired by QER and posted to that effect. Don’t have a problem with that (do have problem with QER, personally), perhaps we should just not promote any of these businesses on the site. We should consider that the UKW business side of things needs to make some money and act accordingly.

Personally I hate selling anything remotely “PCB or timer ish” to the public, it makes me shudder, especially the more expensive parts, that’s why they aren’t in the shop@, apart from 1 Smeg PCB which is a subscriber ex stock item and a few cheap Indesit PCB’s (where did that Servis module come from Mr Watt, I didn’t add it )

The refurbished timer category has now gone, which I forgot was even there to be honest 😳

When they phone/email asking for them they are told specifically that once fitted the item becomes non returnable full stop unless they can prove that it is faulty.
