ParticipantOk guys just cosigned my Hoover washer dryer to the tip and replaced it (after a lot of grief from the other half) with a Miele Washer Dryer. Now she wants know what is the best/recommended detergent to put in it. Any thoughts?

There’s a good article here:
http://www.washerhelp.co.uk/washing_machine_detergent.html
and here
http://www.whitegoodshelp.co.uk/wordpress/you-dont-just-use-one-detergent-do-you/Think the general concensus is to use a powder for your whites (They contain bleach) and use a liquid or colour friendly powder for your coloured’s.
I’m using these at the moment for my whites
http://www.simplywashing.com/which I am really happy with. Really easy to use.
There is also a good article on this site about Bio v Non Bio detergent but I cannot find the link at the moment.

Does the aquados clean heavily soiled items as good as a conventional detergent? I am asking because my hubby has kidney failure and at the moment with the phosphate levels being through the roof, Ariel is irritating his skin. (My hubby has been very poorly over these last few weeks, hence why I have been absent from the forums)

Hi WQ,
Sorry to hear about your husband. 🙁
Yes, Aquados does so far as I can tell clean just as well as Ariel or, put it this way, most people would notice virtually no difference. I’d say give it a try, the worst it’s going to cost is £2.99 to give it a whirl if you have a Morrison’s nearby.
Even then Aquados do offer a warranty that it will do the job, but it does and we know that already. 😉

I’ve also found it to clean very well (I’m using the bio version). No complaints so far as it gets the kids school shirts clean which is pretty impressive.
Only problem is they don’t do a “Colours” version so I’m just using it for whites and using the blue Ariel liquid tabs for the colours.
I’ve also seen it in Sainsburys as well although stocking seems a bit patchy. Some stores have it and some don’t.

Thanks Kwatt, appreciate that! (The joys of life I suppose)
Do you know if it has any adverse effects on the machine? i.e. Going to goo, block pump etc etc.?

No WQ, no adverse effects as there is bleach in Simply.
I am aware of the colours issue and have raised the point. 😉
