Hoover DYN 8144D
I always thought it was bad for clothes to have powder, in its raw form, come into contact with them.
When this machine fills, first draw #1 pours powder all over the contents from the side, then draw #2.
The powder sits there and presumably sticks for quite a while before it is disolved.
Any ideas about this? Is it normal? Is there a fault? Every other machine I have ever had pours powder into the reservoir around the drum, not the drum itself. Weird.Ta

The detergent/water mix enters the outer tub between the tub and the inner drum. The continued flow of water down from the dispenser combined with the tumbling action of the tub rapidly disperses the detergent solution. That design layout has long been established on all Hoover/Candy machines for many years. Not brilliant I must agree but nothing about Hoover has ever been considered brilliant!

That is my point, Martin – on this machine it doesn’t enter between the outer and inner. It enters directly onto the clothes in the inner drum. To clarify, I can watch the powder pour onto the clothes from the draw and sit there until the water level is enough to start the machine. With wool and silk, this must be damaging.

The perfect solution = detergent tablets
Place one in the tub then load the clothes on top, problem solved! 💡
