KeymasterThis is not a specific WTA thing but, WTA members are getting first dibs on it.
I cannot say too much beyond what you will read in this post for the time being due to confidentiality so please, don’t harass me about it as I can tell you no more for now.
I can also say that this is a commercial venture. For the time being it can be referred to as a UKW thing if you want, makes no odds.
All the info below is or could be subject to some change but the basics will remain. I’m trying to give you lot a chance to have your hat in the ring before I open it up in the general forums before the weekend. I will have to do that to get the level of cover needed, sorry.
Given your all getting first crack, don’t hang about eh? Tardiness will not be rewarded (at any point). 😉
The Goal
To build the best service network in the UK.
It is as simple as that, the service that is required is to be the best in the business which will be reflected in rates etc.
I always said that, if I was going to do this in any shape or form I would want it to be the best of them, no point in doing what everyone else does so, this is different or will be in many ways.
The Rates
Not yet set but they will be premium rates, above the norm.
To what degree is ongoing presently but I can say this, it will be good rates.
The Work
Spread of product, will be a mixed bag of laundry, cooking, cooling et all with wherever possible all skillsets but that is NOT essential.
It is fully realised that some areas are “problematic” for gas work and in some regards refrigeration as well but being Gas Safe is not a prerequisite nor required, just nice to have.
It is work covering all brands other than the ones that are filtered so, most of the cr4p is removed upfront.
Spares
Details to be worked out on it and what way that will go is not yet determined.
Territories
The plan is that wherever possible post areas of cover will be assigned to a specific company or repairer if you will.
Those postcodes are assigned to you, you’re responsible for everything in them and you get all the work in there that you do other than cover for products you do not repair or holiday cover etc.
I don’t want this rubbish with not knowing if you’re going to get the calls or not, I hated that as well.
Customer Care Stuff
This is the important bit in it all, the game here is to make sure it’s happy punters. In some ways it’s not much concern how that’s done, just so long as they’re happy it’s all good.
If not, there’s a problem.
What To Do
Drop a mail to David on dquinn@ukwhitegoods.co.uk with the following:
What products you repair
What postcodes you cover
The rest of the usual stuff, address, contacts and all that stuffNow, on postcodes a bit of a warning for some here, only send a note of the postcodes you actually cover and not one you might do, occasionally if you’re not busy or whatever. If we put calls through to you as you stated you cover the codes it will be expected that you do it, not come back with a “we only go there when the moon is full” or whatever.
Yes, some repairers do that and it is extremely annoying and destroys confidence in what you’ve been told when it does happen.
Same applies to products.
David will send you back confirmation he’s got it, normally within a day or two and be back in touch if more info is needed etc.
Other Stuff
What can I say, we could have a golden opportunity to build a good, stable network with sensible rates and conditions. Work that actually has a value that will grow.
With postcodes assigned and, I’m pushing for 2-5 year contracts which may well happen, it’s a no-brainer, far more stable work than we’ve seen and with rates that I’m trying to get greater than £60 a job, more valuable than cash work for many.
I’m also pushing for a bonus system so the people that do a good job get more.
Whilst some people may think it’ll never fly I can tell you, I think it will and I think I’ll get a good bit of what I’m trying to get as well. If not it all.
If I/we do pull this off it’s going to make many others look pretty bad if you guys deliver an outstanding service for decent pay and conditions. Kinda shows them all what they might need to do to get similar but a lot of that will hinge on how this pans out. Who knows, it might even change things.
I think it’s good bet so much so I’m putting a lot of time and effort into making it work.
A lot of it all hinges on you guys though, if you’re up for it.
