KeymasterOr even fax it, or scan and email it as it’s a lot cheaper/faster. 😉

I didn’t realise till today that some people subscribe to the site. Is the sub the £10 + £5/month as on the standing order mandate I’ve just downloaded? Are there any other benefits [apart from e-job weighting] from subscribing or have I just been a tight-fisted b****** for using the site free while other people have been paying for it? Geoff

The subscriber side was setup a while back Geoff and it has been discussed a few times but we’d never infer that anyone was tight fisted. 😆
Seriously though, we do intend a lot more through that in time but we need a bit of time to get all we want done and done right. UKW is young really in the grand scheme of things and I appreciate that not everyone just wants to jump onboard right away, which is fair enough. However, the point is, we’re active in trying to do things, not resting on our laurels waiting on something to happen along.
The other very important point to be made about the subscriber money is that it is just that, subscriber money! We do not take anything from it at all to run UKW, we have for the odd meeting or whatever but it’s simply been to avoid us paying out our own pockets for it. The intent is to let that fund grow into something substantial to use for whatever good purpose that the subscribers see fit to use it for. We/I will guide and help in that endevour but I or anyone involved in UKW Ltd ain’t wanting a bean for doing it. In short we’re not looking to make money of the poor sods that go out and graft damn hard to earn it!
In fact, if anything we give you more as all the revenues from Google and Amazon sales go straight into the subscriber’s pot! If I can swing it in time there may well be more from other areas. It’s up to each individual to see the worth of what we’re trying to do here.
Weighting Repairs@ in favour of the subscribers is just my way of saying thanks for the support.

As we plan to go live with E-jobs over the weekend, could anyone who would like to be included in the first run please get their details to Ken as soon as possible please, preferably by lunchtime tommorow.
Thanks.
Dave.

KeymasterYeah, if you want on the initial run please get the info back as we won’t be adding your details just because we feel like it!
But I was having a conversation this evening with a friend and we got onto the subject and the comment was, “what would happen if e-Jobs grew in time with the hits on a percentage basis, how many calls would the site be handling?”. I have to admit, I never quite thought on it that way and, it’s a bit of a scary thought really.
Never mind, the next few weeks will tell a tale and the system mails me back the “dead” calls, i.e., the ones that no-one gets as they’re not registered or there’s nobody in the area at least so we should even be able to tell you how many calls were in that catagory in any postal region. Nice eh.
Oh and one parting thought on this subject, you lot have had advanced warning of all this, you’ve known about it for months now and had the opportunity to grab the areas/brands you want. All I’m gonna say is… things change and there’s lots of competition out there.

Well, we’ve done some improvements on the module today due to feedback from you guys which we hope will make things a little easier for the customer.
This has led to a slight delay in getting E-Jobs live over the weekend as we hoped, but the improvements had to be implemented first as we want to get it right 😉
We are still ongoing with the input of information from the applications already recieved, but as you can see, it’s turned 11pm and we all have to sleep sometime.
Next update tommorow 😀

Indeed and I’m a bit peeved off about it as well. 👿
Never mind it will be there this week and, as Dave says, I want it right and not rushed. We did some extensive testing this week which led to a rewrite of a load of the code to get it the way, primarily, I wanted it so it gave all the right information etc and there has been substantial advancement on the admin interface as well that should save us a fair old bit of time. So, all things considered, it is probably a worthwhile delay in the end.
Please note that putting up a companies details is not a two minute job and we will be doing it in batches, it will not be immediate as it takes a bit of effort presently to do this.

Agreed P, I’d far rather we spent an extra few days getting it right than rushing it and getting it wrong, although I’m sure that there will be improvements forthcoming in time. 😉
The good news is that the Admin menus are now sorted and we can add repairers without noncing about with file uploads and we can select “all” appliances at once. Much time saving to be had there for we lowly admins.
Already there is a load of repairers in there, all we need to do is allocate the postcodes, skills and brands and we’re good to go. 😀
Now, here’s a thing that may throw a few people…
I noticed that quite a few people had stated that they would repair any appliance, are you sure about that? Because there’s 50 brand names up there as is including Haier, Brandt (De Dietrich) and a host of others that I know loads people wouldn’t go near with a ten foot pole.
If you want any changes made to what brands you will or will not cover please let Dave, Kevin or I know ASAP.
The point of it was to target the work you want, not the stuff you don’t touch. 😉

Okay we’re good to go!
This module will go live sometime today as soon as I’ve finished with the last three people that we have to add to it.
Long haul, but we got there. 😀
If you want your details added then send the damn fax! The more the merrier as far as I’m concerned and read the article on it by clicking the toolbox in the adevert and you might get the point of doing this.
Sleep, pah, that’s for dead people! :rotl:
