Can anyone help me with this? The thermostat was replaced by an engineer but it was still getting too hot and burning food. Another engineer visited today and said that the thermostat works ok and that we should give it a try at a lower heat setting and see if it’s working. It’s still the same.

I just turned the selector switch to turn on the oven and noticed that the oven starts to heat even though the temperature selected is 0 (zero).

The engineers are from one of the UK retailers. I can’t really explain the fault other than it’s getting too hot.

Can anyone suggest what might be faulty or what I can say to the engineers on the next visit.

    Thanks,

    Nick (Shanny)

Earth fault through the oven element can bypass the thermostat and give these symptoms. As any competent service engineer should know…..

    Penguin45,
Thank you very much. Unfortunately, CoMpETence isn’t thier strong point but I now have two (yes, two) very red faced and subdued “engineers” in the kitchen. Now , they believe my wife and are starting to investigate it, instead of telling her nonsense about the new thermostat possibly being hotter and use the oven on a lower setting.
Once again, thanks for your input.
