Hi, brand new forum user here.

I have a Prima LPR 600/1 Dishwasher. It beeps and flashes 6 times. I have read that this may be a flow meter problem. I have replaced the reed switch on the fill chamber as suggested on an older post, but the problem continues…..

Any suggestions? I do need to repair not replace the machine! Would the error code 6 flash if the problem was (for example) an inlet valve/solenoid issue? Assuming that the flow meter will not flow if the real problem is lack of water flowing through the pipes…..

The water supply pipe is fine, no kinks & is turned on!

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have tried calling out an engineer, all I have heard from the 4 I have tried (near Glossop) is “we don’t repair those….”

Its a Whirlpool in a dress.

If you search about I’m sure there’s loads on those things in here. 😉

It’s an F6 error, failure to detect filling. The water valve (it thinks) is on and okay but the flow meter, in the side chamber, has failed to detect water flow, no impulses from it.

    Thanks for the post.

So the issue might actually be the inlet valve then……..no water flowing through the system, hence error 6…..flow meter not detecting water flow?

When you start a cleaning cycle, can you hear the water being taken into the machine? or is water going into the cavity?

Re: Prima LPR600/1 Error code 6

I can hear the workings of the machine…….not convinced about water flow though!

I have removed the water chamber on the side of the machine to replace the reed switch…… The machine is NOT putting any water into the tank before it cuts out and starts beeping/flashing. Hence my inlet valve theory.

    Any help is really appreciated!

Hi: First things first, If you have a Multimeter remove the connecting wires from the inlet valve & check the continuity of the valve coil. Don’t worry too much about the actual resistance of the coil for the moment, you just need to know if it’s got continuity. If you have a manual range Multimeter you will need to set it on the 20 Kilohms range.

Re: Prima LPR600/1 Error code 6

This is the first time I have ever used a multi meter…….

I have tried the multimeter on the 20k Ohms settings as you suggested. I removed the connector block and placed the leads of the multimeter on the two electrical connector points of the inlet valve (where the wires would fix to).

The meter had a reading of 1 . (before I touched the contacts with the leads), and stayed at 1 . when I made the connections with the multimeter.

I hope that I have carried out the test correctly!

I tried the same test on some of the other components, and found the DMM gave out a different reading upon connection of the leads…………

Re: Prima LPR600/1 Error code 6

Hi: Put your meter on the 20k range & short the probes together this will show you what you should see when you check a good fuse or something like that i.e a closed circuit & the 1 shows an open circuit. If you placed the meter across the component & it showed 1 on the display then it is showing that the valve coil is open circuit & needs replacing.
