I have the above built in electric oven and was using it yesterday for a few hours cooking the lunch, I turned it off when I had done and then smoke came from the it and it smelt funny (like a burning plastic smell). The LED display went off but there is still power going to it. I turned it off at the mains an waited for it to cool. I turned it back on but it still not working, the lights above the 2 dials are on though.

    Any ideas??

    Thanks

Re: Prob with my AEG B5741-4

Hi: This could be due to a known problem with the edge connectors on the Electronic board. These can loosen off over time due to heating & cooling and can burn Causing the same sort of problem. If this is the problem it can usually be repaired by fitting new crimp connectors to the wires, if you don’t feel confident about Electrical repairs & your ability to make good & sound crimp connections please call an Engineer.

PLEASE REMEMBER IF YOU LOOK AT THIS YOURSELF TURN OFF THE POWER TO THE COOKER AT THE CONNECTION UNIT OR COOKER BOX.

Ive took the back off to take a look and its a bit of a mess, it looks like some connecters on the electronic board were on fire and melted!!!

I have taken a couple of pics:-

Ouch, that’s a bit nasty. Looks like you need a new PCB & a lot of wiring repairs & that is not a DIY repair job. As for price the only 1 really who can tell you that is the Engineer doing the job, all Engineers have different prices & the board may well be expensive.
Take a look at the repairs@ link for Engineers local to you, sorry we can’t go any further with information but the repair really does have to be done & tested properly.
Problem appears to be as I said in my previous reply, only this one has caused quite a bad burn up.

    Andy.
