    Yesterday we had a problem with the drum of our AEG86800. The drum was making a terrible noise. Once the wash had completed I tried turning the drum by hand – it would turn so far in one direction and then get stuck, it would turn in the other direction and then get stuck.

    After repeating the process a few times the drum is now moving freely.

    Any suggestions as to the cause of the problem?

    i would suggest that you have got an item between the inner and outer drum such as a sock. Needs removing if you can – power off please.

    Is this a straightforward job or one best left to a service engineer?
