My ariston machine keeps stopping just before it goes into a spin and the then the knob on the front just spins round, a common thing from reading this site.

I have turned it on and off and the power light flashes 5 time pauses and then flashes 5 times and so on!

It is an A1435 and is just over 3 years old (just out of the extended warranty period)

    Any help appriciated

It’s a water level problem, either the pressure switch or the PCB would normally be the cause although Indesit fault codes are a little “obscure” at times to say the least 😉

Power off please if you investigate further :zap: or call an engineer if you’re unsure, check Repairs@ if you need one 🙂

    Dave

Thanks for the reply, would it be worth mentioning that i can bypass the problem by waiting until it sticks, and then use the reset menthod i woul don this website to put it back into the spin cycle.

I spoke to my warranty company to check it was out of warranty (and it is 🙁 ) but they have offer to fix the problem and extend the warranty for 12 months for £130, given what you thing is wrong and a call out fee do you thing this could be the way to go!

    Many Thanks

Not an easy one to answer I’m afraid as it all depends on which part has failed (if any).

The pressure switch is relatively cheap and if fitted by an Indepndent engineer the bill wouldn’t be anywhere near that figure, but if the PCB has failed then it would be in that region.

Your call I’m afraid, but if Merloni send one of their guys and it’s a simple fault 😕

Re: Problem with Ariston washing machine – help

    Thanks Again dave.

I’m not sure what to do really, this machine has run pretty much constantly for 3 years (kids!!) and has never missed a beat, I never realised that ariston where part of indesit or i never would have bought it, and now i’m thinking that this is the begining of the end!!

Due to its age the warranty company will only contribute 30{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} to the cost of a new machine if this one is beyond economical repair.

Think it might be time for a new one..

My preference is bosch but my wife is quite keen on some of the samsung machines, aso are zanussi any good??

    Thanks again

Me too to be honest 😉

Stick with the Bosch, Samsung machines are fine though, sourcing spares can be a bit of a pain at times, Zanussi are also OK on the whole.
