I stupidly shorted the live and neutral connections to my drain pump and fried a transistor on the circuit board to the extent that I can’t see the details so as to know what to replace it with. The pump now runs constantly (as soon as the power button is switched on), so if anyone has a diagram or knows what the three-leg transistor at position Q307 on the control unit pcb for this model is I would be very grateful. Failing that if there is a generic type of transistor that I could use on a 230v system such as this I’ll try that instead.

    Thx in advance

The info I have likely won’t go to that level I’m afraid. It would detail the PCB and connections to it etc but not down to component level.

I’ll take anything you’ve got ! You never know, it may well help.

Can you give me the board reference… or any other numbers or references on the board?

Hi and thanks for the reply.

The info on the board –

“Emerson Electric Electronic Speed Control Division”, “Assembly No. 2514” followed by “20”, “Rev.G”, “Date Code – 0796” then “EA31190”.
On the reverse (solder) side is “EPN 251501 Rev.D” printed into the PCB.

And it looks like this –https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/vlRH1ep4cx3C21iAVxvJt9MTjNZETYmyPJy0liipFm0?feat=directlink

The fried transistor is directly below the big yellow capacitor.

    Shameless self-bump

Re: Problem with ASKO 20003 washing machine (drain pump)

There is no info on Asko’s system for that machine anymore I’m afraid so it must be well over 15 years old I’d expect but probably much more, if the model number is correct and it is a UK model.

There is a later 2005 model but it won’t use the same spare parts or, certainly not that control module.

It will be a Triac – probably same as the ones on the top in a row

Re: Problem with ASKO 20003 washing machine (drain pump)

Nice one, I’ll get hunting for a Triac transistor then.
One thing though, it has a larger heatsink than the others in the top row (which are all marked either IRF740 or IRF 840), would that make any difference to what I needed to ask for please ?

Ah it won’t be the same then. The IRF’s are Mosfets.

    edit..
What are numbers on the three devices at the top left of the board?

Re: Problem with ASKO 20003 washing machine (drain pump)

    thx again for the input.
You may have to be a bit more specific than ‘the three devices at the top of the board’, but if you mean the 3 transistors then the 2 to the right hand side (grouped together) are 3-legged transistors with IRF 840 marked on them and the one standing on its own to the left is a two-legged transistor with HFA08TB marked on it.

Maybe this shot of the transistor / MOSFET might help

Sorry then I can’t be much help to you on this one

Re: Problem with ASKO 20003 washing machine (drain pump)

    Thx for trying anyway.
If I could pick your brains a bit further though, would you think a generic transistor that might be suitable or will it something specific to this application ?

Re: Problem with ASKO 20003 washing machine (drain pump)

I would say the only way here is to hope someone has a board and can id the component for you, sorry.

Re: Problem with ASKO 20003 washing machine (drain pump)

There wouldn’t be any way to tell what it is by removing the component and measuring the resistance (or something else) between the legs ?
