The machine stopped midway through a wash cycle and the “delicate” light was flashing. I tried 3 times to run the cycle and it appeared to go through the wash program but seemed to stop when it came to drying and the “delicate” light would start to flash. The dishes weren’t clean so I suspect the water was cold.

I’ve checked on your section on the error codes and for the light which flashed the answer seemed to be either the thermostat or the heater.

I would appreciate your advice on this and also if this is something my husband could fix or would we need an engineer.

    Thanks

Could be a detached thermostat inside the door or the heating element itself, a known weak spot in Indesit dishwashers.

Heating element is around £42/£43 .

Impossible for us to know if hubby could fix it as we have no idea of his level of expertise. You should also test the heating element electrically first before even thinking of trying to replace it.

Not the easiest element to get at, also has some very fiddly hose clips.
