ParticipantHi,
I just took delivery of a new kitchen last week that included this dishwasher. I have used it once and it broke down.
The engineer came round today, and it is being trashed and replaced, as there is a known fault with the sump.
Should I ask for a full refund and go for another make?
The engineer said it is not a good machine and is made in China by Haier(?)
Any advice would be much appreciated.
Maco.
P.S. My last machine was a Whirlpool that never broke down in 15 years!

Problematical machine that pops up in all sorts of different guises. You could put ‘Haier AND dishwasher’ into Search for this forum to get an idea of what you’re up against – pretty grim reading.
The built-in Whirlpool is still a reasonable machine (allowing for the circulation pump problem), SMEG is popular, Seimens/Bosch/NEFF is always a good bet.
Just bear in mind that you will get what you pay for………

Many thanks Penguin. I think I will be trying to get a refund! Unfortunately, I had no choice in this as it came with the kitchen.

Good news – I’m getting a full refund!
Can you possibly recommend an integrated slimline machine? I’ve got around £300 to spend.
Spotted a Whirlpool ADG550 and a Smeg DI409C for around the £300 mark.
Are these any good or do you have any other suggestions?
Many thanks for your help.

Whirlpool is OK apart from this:
http://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/modules.p … ge&pid=159Smeg – I like SMEG (we have one ourselves). Can be very awkward to repair if they do go wrong.
You might like to check out the Gorenje GVI6520 – this is made by Bosch and would come in around you budget point.

Thanks mate.
I think that Gorenje you mention is a full size one. I need an integrated slimline.
The Gorenje GVI5539 fits the criteria. Is that also a Bosch machine?

That one looks like a SMEG to my eye. Still, 5 year warranty is very tempting.

You’ve lost me.
Where is this 5 year guarantee that you speak of?
