Morning all.We have an Indesit idf125 that suddenly started making noises a few days ago.A kind of loudish grating noise from the base of the machine. After a short time the noises seemed to stop. Now when we try to do a clean the start/pause button flashes quickly after a few minutes into it.I emailed indesit and they said it sounds like the heater but I’d really appreciate some impartial advice. Not had the thing more than 18 months or so.If everyone thinks it is the heater then if anybody could give me a few tips on sourcing and replacing the faulty part I’d be greatly obliged.

loud grating noise would lead me to think more in the direction of a foreign object in one of the pumps ( there’s two , one for draining , one for circulating the water during wash)Could be something like a bit of broken glass, chicken bone etc. If you’re comfortable doing so, unplug from supply , drain as much water as possible from inside using a sponge or towel and then remove the pumps to check if there’s anything in them.

Thanks for the reply.I thought something similar but now the noise has stopped. Now the machine starts and seems to be working but after a short period the start/pause button flashes and when we open up all the plates etc are still as dirty as when they were put in.

The main circulation pump/motors fail for fun on these machines, part is around £90+.

Gives the exact symptoms you describe. 😥

18 months, past its sell/use by date already. :rolls:

Bugger.Oh well, looks like a new one then.I’m not going to fork out good money on parts if there’s a chance things will keep going wrong. Thanks anyway folks.
