ParticipantHi guys;
I am a little worried about my bedsit.
As you know, bedsits are designed to be all inclusive, with all facilities included in a very small and economical space.
I have an integrated fridge/freezer, (the freezer compartment is nothing more grand than a single shelf).
My freezer does not seem to be working the greatest. The thermostat dial goes from 0 up to 5. At 3, ice cubes will form, but not evenly. For example, I placed an ice tray filled with cold water last night and examined it this morning. 10 of the compartments had frozen over, the remaining 2 were still liquid, water. Very cold water, but water nontheless.
I have turned the thermostat up to 4 and 5. This has resulted in a dramatically faster freezing time for items, but sadly, things aren’t that simple. When I turn the thermostat up to 4 and 5, the fridge makes a very loud humming sound, which has lasted for a long period of time and given the limited space there is already, it is highly distracting. It was so loud and obnoxious, it was keeping me awake.
he model is Proline PF120WD.
I am in rented accomodation, so new freezer may prove to be problematic. Anyway, I don’t know how long I am going to be here. The thing about the ice cubes was used more as a rudimentary test to determine the efficacy of the freezer and indeed, whether it was working properly.
I have purchased a freezer thermometer.
I am not entirely sure as to the best way to use it to measure the performance of the freezer? Perhaps measure both sides of the freezer, for a specified period of time? I have a sneaking suspicion that one side of the freezer is either cooler, or the other is thawing and defrosting.
My ultimate concern here is food safety. I don’t want to end up poisoning myself, but if I have to contend with buying food and using it within a few days thats fine, not a big eater anyway tbh. Also, noise reduction features into the equation!
ANY help, will be very gratefully received!
