ParticipantProline TDC7A (aka Hotpoint CTD00P) condenser drier. Serial.no. 409091018 95314890000.
Bl**dy noisy nylon drum support wheels are now showing as obsolete, superceded by a flimsy looking felt bearing part no. HPT1703273.
This is a Hotpoint drier with fittings for the old type thin plastic bearing shoes on the front vent chamber.
Does this conversion felt come with bearing shoes or is it just a felt bearing? Do you retro-fit the plastic shoes? If so, what’s the part no. please? Anyone done this job? Any problems encountered? All advice appreciated. Thanks,
Steve.

Felt is only a seal, the conversion uses the old style Creda bearing pads, you know the ones that hardly ever failed, 😉
That kit should come with new seal & four of the bearing pads plus drum shaft. Give yourself a bit of room, remove both side panels, 30 minutes should be all that is needed, fairly straighforward. If you can find a couple of suitable washers it is a good idea to put a couple between the rear of the drum and back panel to push the drum forward a little, sometimes these are included in the kit but not always.
Worth checking just how much damage has been done to the duct, on the last one I did I had to replace the duct due to the drum slipping off the pulleys and wearing away the duct.

1703080 is the full “shaft kit” which has a new drum shaft, m8 washer, 3 x torx screws, rear drum felt and 3 or 4 front bearing pads. Don’t know what the latest modification instruction is. But I did see one modification notice saying replace wheels with 4 bearing pads and this was later reduced to 3 (I think due to too much friction when drum rotating).
Not sure if you can get just the front bearing pads but it also depends on production date of your model as to what mods it requires.
Maybe one of the Merloni guys will be able to update you with the latest mods.

done a few lately..
merloni freind said dont bother with kit…
remove wheels and fit bearing pads x 4..have done a few and works ok,
good tip …loosen belt pulley when doing job, this gives you a bit of play whilst offering drum back up to bearing pads…bit of a pain to loosen pulley , but worth it…
total bomb-scare of a dryer…just pray it all goes back together..

1703273 is thankfully what I’ve got on order!!! The photo on Connections shows a couple of loops of what resembles a felt-like material and nowt else. I hate guesswork when ordering parts.
Thanks guys for the info!! 😀Steve.
