    Finance man: I’ll volunteer…. I like playing with money πŸ˜€ πŸ˜†

I personally, would like to get the basic stuff done first…. website properly developed, logo designed and approved etc. Then, we could get other balls rolling πŸ˜€

    Okay then, I’ll bite… πŸ˜‰

What would you like developed on the website exactly? What is its aims, what function/s is it to perform?

Logo, what are you going to develop and why? How do you then intend to drive trade and consumer awareness of this and where is the budget coming from to do it?

    Bear prodding, dangerous sport. πŸ˜†

Sorry bout that K, but you should all know by now that I’m going to be one of them annoying little sh1ts that bangs on about the smaller, less important stuff πŸ˜†

Regarding the Logo, I dont think that we should change the pic, I just think that we should incorporate it into a proper logo that can be ours from day 1. Anyway, Ken, you have already done a logo for us that is good enough on the forums…. Lets use that on the web?

Regarding the web, The content is spot on. I just think that as people now will be browsing it, lets spend just a little time on getting the website, set in stone if you like… For instance, DASA have decided that their website will be blue, what colours are we going to be? (Again, I know it may be pretty irrelevent at this stage, I’m just a bl00dy pain in the arse perfectionist!!)

I’ll shut up about it now 😳 !

    The Charter (c.o.p.) -done
Member certificates, van signage along the lines of Corgi badge with membership no. on it

We also need to make up a list of all the member benifits and think of ways to extend this at little cost to the organisation.

Cracking idea….. I never got jack from DASA….. As a newbie, I would have loved another certificate to put up in the office, as for the van signing, again, what better way to get everyone to notice the WTA given that the rear of every van is seen hundreds of times each day…..
I’d say make this idea a priority πŸ˜€

(oh, only after we have a logo to put on it πŸ˜‰ )… Sorry… couldn’t resist πŸ˜†

Expensive to do individually numbered ones, unless we had the printer I asked for two years or so ago that would have allowed us to do them in-house. πŸ˜‰

Logo not really required, I have an idea there.

    Size?

Who do we get to do them?

Assume that they are round. πŸ˜‰

    Re: Quack ,Quack….

I don’t think that promotion was the intent of Lawrence’s post somehow.

Promotion is expensive, time consuming and at his stage not really required beyond promotion to the trade. Once you gain some trade awareness and iron out the bugs, then move on.

No problem with the ideas raised with the caveats given on each so far though.

What I think we should do is also make a play that the TA is not-for-profit and that much is done on a voluntary basis along with support from outside business as well as the members themselves.

Also, what are we going to do regarding CORGI?

    Spares pricing?

    Technical info?

These are the things that, IMO, matter right now. Not whether the website is blue or green (sorry Ade, just an example), what tie we wear or whether we use Fluke meters or cheap Chinese ones. These things will not change anything for us or the other members. My suggestion is to concentrate on the problems in front of you, there’s no call to go inventing one’s we don’t have yet.

Just a suggestion :eeek: πŸ˜† ……, now that we are all sort of, um, …. semi aquainted, and as we have got the basics near enough sorted, why don’t we arrange another meeting, for Council members (and we could invite members) to attend to discuss the next steps in person? It doesn’t have to be a big occasion like the the UKW meeting, just a Sat AM or PM or something like that?

Yeah, so long as it’s within 40 miles of Kilmarnock. πŸ˜‰

At this time of the year, three new products, David on Holiday next month plus all the other little things I have to do… I just don’t have the time to take a day or two days out. And, remember, I have to drive for three hours to get to Manchester let alone any further South.

those of us way down south could fly up to you perhaps ? fly friday early ,meet eat ,drink return sat .
I think it would be good to meet however I think it needs to be just the steeringg group at the mo to finalise everything once we have decided a few more things .
The next UKW meet will be Feb 08 won’t it ? that would be an obvious place to have a general mtg .

Agreed, I could fly the South to North air link and self-invite me to Seans’ place, and then travel up with him…. Hope that’d be OK Sean πŸ˜†

No problems with that at all Lawrence. I can fly South, it’s just a PITA. πŸ˜‰

And yes, the Feb 08 is perfect to do a general meet, that would be my first choice for many reasons.

    Re: Quack ,Quack….

    Pulling this back on track….
The reason that I mentioned ducks is that we can all too easily look at the end game and over look what is most important let me explain.
I have always worked on the principal that the quality and strength of a foundation dictates how strong whatever is built on top of it becomes.
    So using that premise…
    I think we have a strong foundation….
    1. With the constitution- it’s creates an accountability under which we can operate as a trade association
    2. With the code of conduct-It holds all members accountable and will sort the wheat from the chaff
    3. With ID Cards, this is mega in my opinion as it ticks so many boxes, We can promote the WTA Brand with this, create brand awareness with both the trade and the consumer, gives us a discernable identity, also a credibility, and an edge over the likes of DASA in one hit.
    4. The web site, personally I don’t think this is the be all and end all, I think it just has to act as a gateway for consumer and trade alike to access the WTA

These are some of the blocks on which we can build and attack trade issues then we have other things like Steve’s tool idea, the Logo, more things on the website, associate membership’s, van stickers .etc etc.
But to my mind these can all be built on top of all of the above but we need to agree on the foundations and then build
For what it’s worth I think that the first thing to rollout is the ID cards ,this raises awareness hugely then other things can follow.

    I’d agree.

You do of course realise that now I have to come up with another analogy on the ducks front don’t you?

The constitution is a done deal methinks as is the COP although the latter requires some tweaking but I’m sure we’ll get to it and it’s not pressing.

Use the AC, it is effective and proven to work. I’d actually say that it would be worth using the skills and experience of the group that makes it up as, whilst it was an accident of chance, the wisdom that you can get from that little group is extraordinary, don’t waste the resource. Asides from which greater communication is, IMO, a desirable goal, especially from people wearing the same colours if you see what I mean.

Always use the resources that you have at your disposal, especially when they carry no penalty or cost.

ID cards, yes. The importance of these may not come into play for a while but I’d agree, they have a lot of effect for not a lot of cost. Additionally, it allows an additional small income for no cost on the part of the TA, it may not be much but any income is good.

Draft designs I’ll post as soon as I have all the kit and can play with it to see how they look on the actual card. I need some mugshots though.

Website, needs refined IMO but that takes time. You have to allow it to build and evolve into what it needs to become, the good thing about most CMS systems is that they allow you to do that over time, just as has happened with UKW. For now all that’s required IMO is a nice professional looking shop front for want of a better explanation of it. That said, what you can do these days for little cost is quite amazing really.

The point of what I posted previous in response to one of Ade’s posts was that right now, we don’t know what it will evolve into and, without knowing that in advance, keep it as fluid as you can and do not fall into the trap of being locked into something you later regret.
