Participantthey don`t seem to realise that they only got to there position by the likes of us engineers. If they keep stopping our accounts who else is coming on behind us the youngsters don`t want this job ,its very short sighted.

KeymasterI kinda get it, not defending it but to keep hundreds of small accounts open that spend very little is costly, it does actually cost money to maintain all that and if the accounts ain’t buying anything or very much it’s hard to justify the cost of running them.
We’d do the same if you think, an agency/contract you give credit to and lower rates as it’s cost effective well, should be at any rate. But the one off or once or twice a year punter won’t get the same rates and probably not even credit terms.
Same thing, different way of looking at it.

thats because its part of Qualtex
this is happening a lot, its roughly £60 a week. If you spend less they will close the account
but its a lot harder when their stock levels are not that good at times

KeymasterI understand that but a trade account using less that £60 a week is a low use to be running a full on credit account.
I don’t run them for UKW, never have and likely never will as it’s just too much hassle. People not paying on time and the admin time to chase etc on already low margins just makes it a non-starter as you end up making nothing on it at best. And that eats into the accounts that are okay.
I don’t mind doing the odd favour for people I trust but, running actual credit accounts, na, too much hassle to be bothered with.
Even on Rapport there’s been the odd one or two that don’t pay on time, you end up spending an age chasing, often taking months to get paid. One guy a year it took him to settle the bill. It’s just a bloody hassle.
So small, low use accounts, I get why they don’t want them.
For those that get a bill, pay it, move on but get this I completely understand why it seems bonkers. But policies like this are not aimed at them or to cause them harm, it’s blanket as it has to be.
Back in the day, I did in another life and it was a ballache. But you do learn all the tricks. 😉

ParticipantYou can pay on order with Qualtex, thats how I do it with all suppliers as I didn’t want any credit accounts.

KeymasterIn effect, sending people to Parts Centre is what that is.

Moderatorwell connect have their problems and going through financial turmoil
low stock levels if stock at all on some lines, plus to me they are way too dear on most things means i only use if i have to. A lot of the time their ebay site (wow discounts) is cheaper than trade
if you have not tried Aswo its time to look
