    Main points from the meeting:

They can and will stock/distribute spares for our “network” and give each repairer their own account to order from.

Phil Hulme is going to batter Merloni about for tech info to be available via Spareslink, they already have Lux’s permission to reproduce TDS.

We got sponsorship of the General Trade Forum for £1k for a year 😀

In principle, there is no reason that they will not have many sub accounts within UKW for trade members to order from us and they will distribute.

They will distribute spares to the public (consumables was the topic) on our behalf if ordered via shop@

Their IT guy Bob Bennett (Eurorealm) is to visit Ken with more talks on having Spareslink available to handhelds (ACH), on the pretence he may sell us their own software 😆

Pretty positive moves to be honest, and I for one, unless Washvac come up with something fecking spectacular next week think we should continue our talks with them…

    Dave.

Oh, and I got a free Teba element in exchange for sending them some Teba PDF’s 😀

    Re: Qualtex

Yes, I’d agree, it was all very positive indeed and I don’t think that Qualtex realise the full potential here just yet.

What they do realise is that CDSL are a problem and that Wash Vac are unlikely to have the strength to combat them. Interestingly mention was made that Wolsley will drop it if it doesn’t return so much on investment, thus far it has failed to do so.

At least Phil fully realises that the way that CDSL operate has killed the local distributors and not exactly helped the trade in many ways.

Nicely Spareslink can be put onto a handheld device, which massively simplifies things in some ways and may allow us to make some money off spares. 😉

The meeting with Bob Bennet should be very interesting as, if it’s possible, we may well be able to use a custom version of their software to act as a front end for ACH which could save us shitloads of money never mind time. If this can be done then a fully blown and fully operational version of ACH could be a reality inside four or five months easily, with the mobile solution. This would put us so far in front it’s unreal, there’s literally no way on God’ Green Earth that anyone would catch us inside at least two years, if ever.

I have to say that I agree with Dave, unless Wolsley are prepared to literally throw money at the problem, then they’ve no chance of being anywhere even close to the park let alone being able to play.

All sounds good, so its just a case of seeing what wash vac can throw on the table before the dye is cast then.

Personally I don’t care what Washvac/Partscenter throw on the table, they are controlled by a Corporate body and have no say in the major decisions, financial or otherwise…

No I don’t think that they’re at the races in all honesty, especially as they appear not to give a sh1t really.

    Re: Qualtex

So lets not burn bridges before you meet up. Give them a chance to put their cards on the table too. Whilst you may have already decided that Qualtex is the way to go, washvac may come in useful for something, one day.

    I never do Kev. 😉

I’ll see what they have to say and try to find out what they’re up to but they have a long way to go to catch up with the rest of the pack now.

Apart from which I always was aware that convincing people that they were serious, should we do anything with them, would be nothing short of a nightmare as they’ve lost so much ground recently.

However, we’ll see what they have to say before making any rash decision.

    Re: Qualtex

I meant to say and, forgot as usual but I’ll have a chat with Kevin in a bit about it…

If we help Qualtex to extablish a toe-hold, which we’realready doing, I’m hoping that the Deppers will be so distracted trying to protect their core business that we get a bit of a free ride when it comes to networking. I say this because when talking to Phil Hulme the other day it was blatently clear that they are going all out to harm Connect.

Oh and Sean, they do nice POS stuff and packing for stores. 😉
