ParticipantJust heard that Qualtex South West (Christchurch) is to close it’s doors next Wednesday.
It’s a sad day for us, as we have been customers there since it was Modern Appliance Spares (MAS). We get a weekly delivery which means that returns are never a problem. Advice as to sales volumes of new items was freely given. Identification of parts was enhanced by a knowledgeable sales team.
Now we are expected to use Qualtex South East, in Kent somewhere, but I don’t know the lads there, so I can’t enjoy the same banter I had with Q SW.
Some of you who went to the WTA AGM might have met Peter on the Qualtex stand. Now redundant along with all the others.
John’s just had a close family bereavement a few days ago, now he’s redundant on top. He became our rep. a long time ago, soon after the Welsh windbag left.
Ah well, change happens as somebody once said. End of gripe, but at sixty-two I’m looking forward to retirement, more and more.

Sad to hear this news… but… At Kent you will now have Angie, Kirsty, Tania, and Charlene. Believe me, you will have some fun chatting to these ladies… They are a lovely bunch and will move heaven and earth to help you out, so don’t worry.

sad to say though for me I never have any sort of relationship with anyone at any of my suppliers anymore, its all faceless, souless transactions conducted often in the early hours of the morning.

I spoke with John a short while ago and passed on my condolances. Also thanking him and his colleagues for there excellent services over these many years I’ve had the pleasure doing business with them. We go way back long before their direct association with Qualtex. Back then they traded as Mobile Appliance Spares and beyond, happy days, wonderful team I will truly miss very much. 😥

Sad day indeed – thanks to John and all the team past and present for the excellent service they have provided. Like Martin, I was buying parts from Mobile Appliance Spares when they started in Wilson Rd in Bournemouth. That was a long time ago in arguably better times.
Gone are the days of phoning at midday and receiving the parts by 3.30pm the same day……that service helped me tremendously as a one man band to react to urgent jobs and bolster the reputation of my business. That convenience is something I will miss.I would like to wish John and all the staff at South West the very best of luck for the future.
Steve.

Its annoying, sad and frustrating.
Soon there will be very limited supply options, leaving large suppliers left who run their own service companies and forcing those who don’t to follow.
And more annoying we’re handing them the kleenex and giving them a cuddle afterwards.
Having local supply outlets gave us the small business the upper hand, allowing us to operate far better and cheaper than the own brand engineers.
10 yrs ago there where 4 outlets within my service area, now there are none.
Now I have to deal with people that are either incompetent or more likely instructed to be awkward, example taking 2 payments for the same invoice and when informed seem to be unable to understand simple instructions and maths, happens a lot and always mistake seem to favor there finances more than mine.

Went in today to pick up a few bits and say bye to John. I hadn’t done too much with them for a while but started to increase about three months ago, even bought my own Bosch dishwasher there. Now the personal touch has gone completely round here.
DATA (Yeovil) last year and now this so stuck with online or a long distance ‘phone call.
Not happy but can’t do anything about it 👿
Good luck John……………..and thanks

I have been using Qualtex since the UKWhitegoods meeting. Kay’s my contact there on extension 202. She’s been spot on every time. Next day delivery available for Whitegoods members up until 5pm. None of this 3pm cut off.
Its also good to see a wide variety of Bosch spares in stock at sensible prices.
