Participantok, so the shop@ sells affresh right?
bargain price, £7-99 with £2-50 delivery
so why then, on ebay, are ukwhitegoods selling it at £7-99 with FREE delivery?
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Affresh-Washing-M … 286.c0.m14
given ebays ridiculous charges and such, surely its less cost effective to sell on ebay?im not criticising, im just curious

ParticipantRe: question?
Presumably they’re sourcing the stuff themselves and accepting a lower margin on the sale.

Glad you asked Helo and, I’ll try to explain as briefly as I can…
Other Ebay sellers take the **** and sell stuff too cheap, IMO.
This REALLY annoys me. For several reasons but the primary one is, there’s really no need to compete on price alone and why sell any product for less that you are forced to do?
So, the price remains higher on the shop so as there’s a “standard” that the guys can sell to, in much the same way as ISE, whilst when someone decides to get stupid, we (I) nip it in the bud on that channel.
Thankfully nobody has been silly on Ebay with ISE nor do I think anyone would be.
With spares it gets complicated by some muppets on Ebay and, it has to be said, on many other websites, selling stuff at stupid prices. Some of which I cringe at and try to ignore as it isn’t good for my blood pressure seeing some of the ludicrous pricing.
With finished product there’s more than a few that have been cut off thankfully so they can’t hack up the prices. With spares, many suppliers seem totally disinterested and take no action to protect the rest of their trade business.
I know that this is probably going to come as a surprise but, I have to commend Whirlpool for at least trying their best to protect trade pricing. You might not like the prices that you get from Whirlpool but they do at least try to protect your margins.
Same with CDSL. Whilst I or anyone else might not entirely agree with their pricing policies they have, thus far, tried to protect margins to the trade. There are a few things that slip through CDSL’s net though however, I expect thats probably due to having to compete with the other muppets out there.
In short, credit where credit’s due.
But that’s why there’s different pricing on the shop as opposed to Ebay in essence.
It is and, will remain, my opinion that trade pricing is for the TRADE, not for retail punters and those that carve up the prices to the extent that some do want taken out and shot in the back of the head, twice, so the job’s done right. 😆
We all have to make a living, we don’t need idiots thinking they’ll make a fast buck on Ebay spoiling it for the rest of the trade.
K.
