Hi, I’m going to be moving to a flat with poor soundproofing, so need a quiet reliable microwave – hopefully with grill – but quiet is more important.

I can’t find any information on decibel levels of microwaves anywhere.

Does anyone have any advice, recommendations?

    many thanks

Microwaves are very quiet in operation. I have never seen any noise levels quoted, it’s certainly not a requirement under the current labelling system. I would go for a Sharp or a Panasonic myself.

Thanks Don for the recommendations. But they all seem rather loud to me though, and I’m half deaf… I wonder if flatbeds are quieter than the turntable type?

It will still have a magnetron and a stirrer fan instead of a turntable so it will be just as noisy.

Thanks Dave, I’ve got a very old Panasonic which sounds like a truck – hadn’t realised the inverter ones were quieter!
