    As far as I understand it from reading messageboards, there is likely to be a revolutionary advance in LED lighting technology within a few years and the compact flourescents are being sold off cheap now before they become obsolete. These fantastic special offers (such as one for 95p or 5 for 49p) are allegedly indirectly funded by you and me the taxpaying suckers.
    Remember that if you drop one and it smashes you will be exposed to the nasty toxic mercury vapour. You don’t want to be breathing that in. I read somewhere that you should evacuate the room for 15 minutes and not use a vacuum cleaner to clean up the mess. Think there was also something about calling in the council to deal with the clean up just like for asbestos. Wonder how many of those supermarket stacks have fallen over already?

    read somewhere that in USA some states advise that if lamp breaks on carpet a square one foot around the debris should be cut out and removed as toxic waste.
