Participanthi… i am trying to repair a rangemaster 110 double oven cooker… the left main oven is intermittantly awkward to ignite… sometimes just keeps clicking even thought the gas is coming through…. if i go to open or shut the door its as though the gas then hits the spark and ignites.. i think there may be something not quite right with the air flow or something perhaps a draft guard or something is missing??? please help!!!!! :rolls:

the burner is all ok… its just like there is a ”breeze” or something really wiered! never come across this prob before!! ❓ its just the initial ignition… gas comes through ok.. once the spark ignites the gas flame is perfect… just initial ignition????

Check the insultion cover on the ignition lead, some times the spark shorts if the lead cover slips down, you might only get a couple of sparks at the electrode and the rest go to earth.
Cheers

Just a shot in the dark here but could the gas jets near the electrode be blocked so it needs that air disturbance to blow the gas towards the spark!!

Presume you are Corgi……..
Take the burner out & clean the oven burner injector. Tap the burner and remove fluff.
Whilst the burner is out look at the ports that are directly below the igniter electrode and poke out with a piece of thin wire – don’t enlarge the ports.
Sometimes the ports don’t look blocked/part blocked when in fact they are. Likewise with the injector and the aeration space around it.
